Serves 16
3 c. flour
1/2 c. powdered milk
1/4 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1 c. water
Fish, any kind, preferably caught in
Lake Pogamissing
Sift dry ingredients together, blend in shortening. This will yield 4 1/2 cups. Take half of this mixture and add to it 1 egg and 1 cup water. Coat the fish pieces with this mixture and deep fry at 375 degrees until golden brown on both sides. (This could also be done in an electric fry pan, but at Pog the use of an electric frying pan is not practical.) This recipe hails from Pog Lodge on Lake Pogamissing in Ontario, Canada.
