Washington Plaza has a busy dock near the main area, where all fishing is catch and release. Lake Anne has lots of geese and ducks, feeding them is prohibited, lots of children with rods and hooks running around, tons of pedestrian traffic along the walking-trail. So you have to wait carefully when casting around the lake, and be ready to enjoy conversing with kind passers by. There are a few kayak-anglers and fly-fishers, and fishing on the banks in front of the apartment complexes is prohibited private property. Have seen a few unethical fishermen and or kids, fishing from private docks belonging to residents, which is illegal and makes all fisherpersons look bad, and unattended young fishers mis-handling hooked fish, roughing them up and kicking them on the ground. All in all the scenery is beautiful around the lake, but it is highly populated. Have seen Small Sunfish and Panfish so far. All less than 7 inches long.

Caught several 5lb plus lb largemouths from a private dock on this lake. The best spots of the lake for fishing are only accessible by boat though. The public fishing spots are poor because they lack the cover etc. that bass like.

Lunkers linger here. Need boat access. Tons of large crappy. On e evening caugt 4 over 4 pounds. I lost at least a 7 pounder yesterday. This was a porker! Fun and Clean bur bass are al over the place and are not preditible. Way underfished... crappie are fun and an all day catch with a beetle spin. Bad were diggin the cream yamamoto grub 4"

Judobest, thanks for the information. I was planning on taking my son's out this weekend. Also, glad to know of a decent crappie spot near Reston. No need to worry, I am strickly catch and release (after a picture if it is big enough).
