It is BS that they shut us out. I use to catch some real hawgs up there from the bank. Rather its Home Land Security or LAWDP I still caught'em!! They just run you off. I mean some real lunkers too!!

I'd like to see the official paperwork for closing Haiwee to fishing, and I'd like to know who the powers-that-be initiated it. It's wrong...I want to know how they justify that. So, are they using Haiwee for the water? If they are, why is it ok to use the water but not fish it? As far as the "Trip Date"...why make the trip if you can't fish?

I walked from South end, around towards the Southeast area, caught small mouth bass. It was years ago. Great spot, saw fish jumping out of water for 20 minutes was on North part, toward west side. Sorry can't be more specific.

me and a friend went here with like tackel on the way home from some eastern sierra fishing. Its hot and feels like a lake on the moon. Nobody is there. We fished the very south bottom part of the resivor. We fished all day and hooked up only once. There are very very very big fish here. something took a night crawler on four pound test and never stoped takeing, I couldent tighten the drag any more my line would have broke. It broke anyway after almost all of the line was gone. I have some guesses. Catfish? Striper bass? Big trout? what ever it was it was big. Now i belive the resivor is closed.

South and North Haiwee lakes have been closed from Homeland Security....like a semi-truck is going to dump a Jehad on the lakes. The people that fish there are locals and top secret clearance workers for China Lake Naval Weapons Center. And we know who is subpose to be there or not. Just a loophole for LADWP to keep us out. The Ca. Constitution says "any waterway with State planted fish will be open to the public....I've caught several DFG Tagged Alper trout in these Lakes... You would think HS would spend the $250,000 some where it's needed....

Wow I hadn't realized they had shuch pull. It's a shame to not allow people to fish a working fishery.I too live in NW Montana and hopefully we willl never have to deal with this type of intevention. Lake Kookanusa reaches into Canada and we haven't been banned from fishing that lake (YET) . I 'd sneak in and fish it anyway and the heck with Home land Security I say put them on the boarder and let's go fish'n man ..
