fished the lake near the mouth of sherwin creek. using black flies on spinning reels with bubbles, caught (5) brook trout in about an hour. The views are worth the trip alone. VERY steep swithbacks just before the end, they do not show up on usgs totp map.

Pulled in trout after trout - too small to eat but who cares! waded out to a high sand bar near the middle and cast small gold spinners all day. impressive scenery, dramatic hike in and out, great day.

I made my way to Valentine Lake with my penrod in my pocket and to my joy, it was here that I finally caught a fish that was bigger than my little pole. I will be back!
