No longer open to fishing, the boy scouts have leased it from the water district and will not allow any one in to fish, and they have trashed the lake since taking it over as well. I went down there and there were dead fish by the thousands just rotting on the shore line, and kids were just casting over the dead fish like there was no problem. The place has been run down by the boy scouts, such a shame, used to be an elite bass lake. If you like fresh water fishing, Orange County is the worst place to be

In all fairness the water quality is maintained by the water department and not the Boy Scouts. The water level got drastically low during the fires last year and contaminant levels were dangerouly high. The massive die-off was not caused by the scouts, but by reduced O2 levels due to the poor water quality. This lake used to be surrounded by junk cars - it's been cleaned up a lot since the scouts took over. You were right about one thing - the lake is closed to the public and you shouldn't have been down there watching the boys...Check your facts before posting...and get yourself youth protection trained.

Awesome place to fish if you can sneak in. I was kicked out one of the three times I fished there. The guy was a real "a"hole about it as well and told us the Sheriff was on their way. If you go in at the right time and park at the end of the dirt road to the right you'll probably be okay.

Thanks to the Boy Scouts and there leaders the lake has gone to ... I dont understand how the boy scouts got there hands on this lake. I'm not here to argue about who gets to fish the lake. Im here to argue the fact the lake has no respect. Thanks to the fathers of these boys who taught them nothing about conservation and respect for the wildlife area. Ive already came into contact with DFG as well as MWD. So the water quality issue should be resolved . . . As well as the huge die off of fish in the water. I work for Water quality control plant down in the OC. So those who did try to keep this lake clean and respected it as if it were there own. . . Thank You. THe boy scouts should be expecting a surprise visit . . .

True the water quality is not great. But before the boyscouts took over the fisherman and the few people who helped maintain never had such extreme problems with water quality. Some fish did die from time to time but usually some type of remedy was thought of. Boy scouts should not have the privelage of such a potentially awsome fishery. Down with the Boyscouts. Den leaders arent to be trusted anyways. And there were never any junk cars other than what was brought in by the guys maintaining the grounds

This lake used to be one of the best bass fishing spots around until the Boy Scouts leased the land and closed off public access. Although the lake has made a nice rebound from the destruction caused by fighting the Santiago fire last year, the Scouts seem to have no interest in maintaining or protecting anything that does not directly affect their programs and the activities centered around them. They don't seem to understand that they have an obligation to the community and its residents to maintain and watch after the lake's ecosystem and all the wildlife it houses, not just the facilities and areas used by the Scouts. Hopefully one day this body of water will fall back into the hands of those that deserve it most, the public.

Is there any reason why there are no comments about fishing the Upper Oso Reservoir? We are looking at moving near that area as part of our retirement. Fishing means a lot to us and will help in our decision for selecting an home in this area.
