Doane pond is a small pond that contains panfish, catfish and stocked rainbow trout. The prefered method of fishing is with conventional fishing gear, light freshwater set up, 4lb test line or lighter. The fish tend to be small but occasionally the DFG will plant larger surprise trout to the delight of everyone fishing. The pond is mostly shallow and surrounded by catail reeds, Find an opening in the reeds, cast out a bait like floating cheese or earthworms suspended just off the bottom and wait for the bite. Again, use light tackle. small hooks ( #16 or smaller)and be patient. Limits of trout can be had in a short amount of time if you time your visit right. Doane Pond is closed until the end of March, 2010, due to State budget cuts.

Excellent especially for children. We have gone up there 2 times and caught our limit each time.
