Caught and released a 7lb. Largemouth, full of eggs, near the Spillway. I walked up on the fish that must of been preparing its bed. All I brought was a Topwater spook, waved it over the bed a couple times til it got pissed and the fish just came unglued, jumping , tale-walking all over the place. Got her to shore and laughed for 5min. I know there is plenty of fish in this lake, just because you throw a lure or a crawler in it doesn't mean they'll jump right on. I believe this lake should be open to float tubes and bass buggies(with trolling motors)and charge a fee of an affordable price or annual rate. Keep all the rif raf out of the parking lot and bring a recreational place for kids, families, if anything a safe haven but, the lake must be catch and release for numbers to improve and for the fact it is man made and fish possibly have high levels of Mercury. I remember catching trout that used to be planted in the late 90s, that is probably no more. Bass fatten up well off those butterball planters, plus otters, Ospereys, and poachers. Good luck to all, and put a pole in your kids hand, it will change there future, it did for me.

I HAVE FISHED LAKE HERMAN SINCE 1981....THERE ARE CRAPPIE CATFISH BLUEGILL..BLACK BASS...IN THE EARLY 90S IVE EVEN CAUGHT TROUT THAT IM SURE WERE STEEL HEAD...CHECK OUT SPILL WAY AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND

Fished there this weekend and caught a bunch of little perch and baby bass. My mama wasn't throwing the perch back but we had to let the bass go cuz they was so dang small. Caught em on red worms and Night crawlers. Dam crappie or bass wasn't going for the jigs or lures. I think I need to hit walmart up for some new ones.

Tough fishing most of the time for bass but once you find what they will hit it is on!but the fish will shut off as soon as wind picks up and they never hit the same lure more than one day in a row.In late winter they bite on spinnerbaits in the afternoon and crainkbaits in the summer.from the banks you will see algee covered ledges so fish diagnol with those.

I fish here often, not many fish in this lake. There's a family of otters that lives at lake Herman and they have first choice on the big large mouth bass. Also have seen some carp in lake Herman, never caught any though. This lake is in a catch & release condition, no stocking means the bass are a limited resource!

public fishing is allowed from 7:30am till sundown. make shure you bring you fishing license and practice catch and release fishing, It is not recommended that you take home lake herman fish due to mercury levels. With that said bring your bass tackle and be ready for some fights! Their are some hogs out their, Iv been hitting mine with fancy worms.
