Great smallmouth bass fishing with good largmouth fishing as well. Good lake to target during spring months when fish are spawning and large bass in the 5-8 lb range are commonly caught during this time of year. Late summer is not as productive for larger fish as the smaller fish bite more readily while the bigger fish move to deeper water. Currently this region of Northern California is in the midst of a drought and the lake is very low. It supports a strong salmon and steelhead fishery downstream in the Trinity River so the lake level isn't tailored for bass fisherman, but good fishing can still be found. A local guide service is available in Trinity Center which will provide a successful trip. As a tip, use Gizzits for some great smallmouth action and bring a variety of plastics and crankbaits. Trout are also a well sought after fish at inlets in the lake. Good luck fishing!
