I've been here about 4 times. There are big rainbows to 15" near the entry and exit streams. If you xcountry in from Chain Lakes, don't guess on route, talk to a ranger or email me at Curt777Holmanatyahoo.com. Fun dayhike to Big Lake, Yellowhammer. Best camping on SW side.

It's a pretty rigorous hike to this lake, unfortunately DFG has stopped stocking all the lakes in this area in deference to native species (of which there are no fish) and trout can't breed in any but the largest lakes in the area, resulting in the quality of the fishing being in decline. In 3 days we caught 2 fish, one 8" and one 14".
