A group of us were staying at Sportsmen's Lodge in Poudre Canyon this past week. We fished the Poudre hard and on Tuesdaywe checked out Joe Wright, in search of Grayling. After a dozen o rso to hand by way of fly, the guys wanted to head back down to fish the river. Having never caught Grayling before this trip and wanting to "save my river beaten legs", I opted to stay and fish the reservoir. At the end of the day, I would estimate three dozen Grayling I brought to hand, and maybe another dozen missed or lost. Dry Flies and high riding Soft Hackles were the ticket. This trip will remain a most memorable experience for me, for many years to come.
