After fishing Staffordville Reservoir ( Staffordville lake ) for over 120 days during the 2009 season. I would rate this lake as "Excellent" when it comes to Panfish. You can expect to catch Yellow Perch,Calico Bass,Bluegill, and Pumpkinseed. Largemouth Bass are in large numbers with many fish caught in the 12'inch to 23'inch range. Smallmouth Bass are present in the lake but i only caught one fish (16 inch) during 2009. Also i caught one rainbow trout(13)inch) a few days after Thanksgiving. Chain pickeral numbers are good with fish being caught in the(12)inch to (22inch) range. The lake is open to the public but there is no public boat launch. The lake has very low boat traffic during the weekday. Weekends are busy at times but doesn't seem to slow fishing down much. The largest Calico Bass caught & released in the State of Connecticut during the 2009 season was taken here by me in September, and earned me a Conn. D.E.P Trophy Fish Award.
