Ive lived close to the west thompson lake my hole life but never realized until recent years how great this lake can be for both largemouth and smallmouth bass.ive found that most of the year the peninsula to the fare left of the boat launch is the ticket to catching some of the best smallmouth bass in the lake but there are a lot of other good spots.during the summer months you will get a lot of bass on the numerous shallow flats. If you have a small jon boat or canoe you can go all the way to the right of the boat launch and head up the quinebaug river and get some good ones. i actualy got my personal best smallie 3.5lb and many others over 2lb up the river.
