This is a very unique lake in that it has more saltwater fish than freshwater. It is connected to a salt creek that leads to the bay which is blocked by a water control structure. During high water events the gates are opened to release water and saltwater gamefish such as snook can swim up into the lake only to get traped once the gates are closed. The snook fishing is excellent here. Fish the shoreline during early morning hours or deep holes offshore during the day. The Bass fishing is not all that great due to the brackish water but they are present in low numbers. Bluegill and Redear are also found here in fair numbers but they make up for it in size. Brown Bullhead are probably the most common fish in the lake. Most are small but there are a fair number of keeper sized ones roaming around. As with most florida lakes there are also Tilapia for those of you who want to cast net up some dinner. Both Blue and Blackchin Tilapia are in the lake. Blackchin are a smaller cousin of the more common Blue tilapia. The fun part of fishing this lake is you never know what your going to catch. Other fish that are occasionally caught are Gar, Redfish, Ladyfish, and even Tarpon.

Fishing is terrible. Afew weeks ago there were reports of peolple snatching stun fish from the lake. I only caught catfish with liver dead strimp I also caught some nile perch with my cast net a few weeks ago
