One of the nice things about Carlson Lake is limited accessibility. You can't legally drive to the lake, although some visitors do. If you park at the designated parking area, it is about 1 mile of moderate hiking to reach the lake. Brook trout are most common species caught. Lots of them but not real big. There are occasional rotainbow and browns. The lake has big tiger muskies. We have seen 36 inch but not been able to catch them. Good for both casting and fly fishing. Beautiful setting. Frequently see elk adn deer when visiting. Almost always waterfowl present.
