Very rugged hike in. We had 4 ten year olds and with breaks it took 5 hours. It was well worth the hike, beautiful lake. Lots of people wandering through on day hikes or camping nearbye. Not a place to go to escape. Beautiful scenery. Take a water purifier and a light jacket. This is a great hike.

I worked for the Idaho Fish and Game Hatchery on barton Flats in 1975. One of the other workers and myself took 200 fry(trout) hiked to Kane Lake and let them go. We watched them acclimate and swimto their new home. Hope there are fish there today.
