The DNR gizzard shad eradication was successful at Lake Everett. Large mouth bass are returning, and plenty of crappie and bluegills are being caught. Lots of ice fishing going on this winter. Shoreline fishing is not available during warm weather, but ice fishing access is unlimited. Due to the thickness of the ice, fishermen can walk out onto the lake from many locations.

Large mouth bass, crappie and bluegills are caught in Lake Everett. However, there is an overabundance of gizzard shad, and the DNR is scheduling a selective kill of these nuisance fish. The shad compete for the food that bluegills and bass eat, and grow at a faster rate. Plans are to restock the lake with fingerling bass after the shad eradication. Recreational boating, skiing and jet skis are not permitted on Lake Everett. It is exclusively a fishing lake, although canoes, pontoons, and paddle boats are frequently seen. The lake is quiet, beautiful and underdeveloped. Its residents are year-round, rather than seasonal vacationers. The lake is DNR managed, with a concrete boat ramp. Lake Everett is a stunning, well-kept secret in Allen County. Come on out!
