I lived on this lake and when I first moved there the fishing was fantastic. Due to the lack of oversight by Kansas Wildlife and Parks, major run-offs from surrounding farms, over fishing and pollution from surronding homes (they now have a sewer system) the lake has suffered greatly. The spotted bass are all but gone but the largemouth are trying to rebound. There is still a good fishery for crappie and catfish. The water clarity is greatly effected by runoffs and flooding is common. Many brush piles have been planted and this is where you want to catch the crappie. Catfish are caught by the feeders. The best largemouth fishing is in the two creek arms on the south end of the lake and around the numerous concrete docks and boat houses. Plastics and jigs are the best choices of baits. The Wildlife and Parks Dept. have installed fishing piers and docks for the public to fish from.
