Lake Iatt Fishing in Grant Parish, Louisiana

I have fished on Iatt for fourty years and this past year was very good I caught three bass over eight lb. Lowering the lake will help the south end of the lake, But not too much on the north end because there is a ridge in the middle of the lake. The north end of the lake will only draw down to around 5ft. The south end of the lake will draw down to a maximum of 8-10 feet. In the past 20 years, drawing iatt lake down has been a failure. But we have never had hydrilla or grass problems like we do today. Wildlife and Fisheries are more professional and educated on this type of problem with iatt lake today. DWL should consider spraying the lake while they have it drawn down because five years ago the lake was drawn down eight feet and within two years the hydrilla was back. It took four years for the fishing to get back to as good as it was this past year. So if the wildlife and fisheries do not spray the lake, we will have lost four or five good years of fishing. I think they should stop the fishing during draw down because too many people take advantage of it. I surely hope the DWL should consider stocking the lake with grass eating carp and restock the lake with crappie and florida bass.

i too have fished this lake all my life. in fact, i grew up with Greg Danzy, my grandparents were the Gorhams, who lived across the road. great lake to fish, great place to live
