To the best of my memory, my first trip to Quimby Pond was about 1939 which places my age at about 75. At that time there were several sporting camps on Quimby including Sagamaore Lodge where we were able to have a meal and rent a boat for the dayy. The fishing was never fast but continued casting and constantly moving your boat would usually place you over feeding fish. Black Ghosts and Grey Ghost Streamers would normally be the best inducers to a take but trout can be very selective. One morning, I fished Quimby along with several natives and fish were boiling all around us for several hours and nothing came to the net. Looking back, I surmise there was a hatch of either mayflies or caddis flies and we were still throwing Black Ghosts and Grey Ghosts at them. In any event, Quimby is still one of my favorite destinations as the pond can still grow trout to a respectable size. I would be very glad to converse with any fisher that has experienced Quimby Pond in its heyday.
