At 2:00 am something big snatched a duck in the water under my bedroom window. The duck screamed for a whole minute like no scream I've heard before. I think other small ducklings were there because I could hear them wimpering. It was dark so I could not see what was in the water, but it had a rhythmic deep rolling sound in the water and was moving about. (The pond is so high it has overtaken the backyard) I could hear a low grunting noise, then the crunch of bones, then silence, a few more deep rolling sounds (like when you paddle a canoe)in the water and then it was gone. The attack took about a minute and a half or so. I am sure the whole Lawrence Pond area heard the water fowl scream. What was it? Could it have been a tiger muskie or other Pike? We are just visiting renting a cottage for a few weeks from a desert region so this is new to us. I see some people swimming at Lawrence Pond. Yipes, stripes...maybe Pikes? Have fun fishing. Go fish it. It was huge whatever it was. Only one feather was left floating on the bank later this morning. Lots of bushes for whatever it was to hide in under water. I have a view of the pond from a bank of windows that face out to Lawrence Pond. I hope to see fishermen looking for this creature soon. Wow...what an experience.

If you want to fish a place where smallmouth bass give you a fight of a lifetime then go here and fish them with gary yamamoto's or live shiners and you will kill it out there!
