Well, the lake was absolutely beautiful and clear, I thought I was in for one amazing day of fishing. I made it to the lake at about 8:30am and launched my boat. The water was very choppy and the wind was unreal. I had numerous bites (as I was cleaned multiple times), but I couldn't hook a fish to save my life. I'll definately try again on a better day, but for now I have to give a thumbs down.

You want to eat freah fish...go to the Meyers Supermarket on M152 and buy some for crying out loud. Why is there a need to keep ANY fish you catch in Magician Lake regardless of size and whether your plans to eat them or not? CATCH AND RELEASE...its a sport not a buffet! Go back to your own lake and eat,

I have been to this lake 10-20 short trips per year since 2000. I have netted a 38" walleye for a friend of mine which we released in 2007. In 2008 I pulled a 28" which is mounted on the wall. This lake continuiously produces solid fish. Don't bother fishing when the sun is out or when the weather is changing becasuse you are wasting your time. Good luck, I'll be out there next weekend.

Beautiful lake. Some of the cleanest waters Ive seen. Try fishing flashy crank baits near visible drop offs. Suspending jerkbaits also worked good. The thing I liked most about Magician is that you could see depth changes easily, and logs and other cover was easily visable due to water clarity. In most cases the fish we caught were spotted and eventually caught by changing baits and presentation. We ended up with three nice bass, 3 lbs., 2.5 lbs, and 1.5 lbs, which I think is good giving how early in year it is. I will defenitley be back in the summer months to catch the bigger bass I know live in this lake. I understand this is also a great crappie lake based on the catch we saw while helping a gentleman load his boat. He had a five gallon bucket of crappie the size of your hand and bigger.

It is because of people like addman227 that Magician no longer has any decent fishing. Boneheads like addman227 catch some little crappie and some small adolescent bass and pull them from the lake. What are you going to do, have a fish fry? Have you ever heard of catch and release??? Try being a little more responsible, and stop depleting the lake of the few fish that are left. I have been fishing this lake for many years, and the fishing has gotten considerably worse year after year. Its because of selfish and irresponsible people like addman227. When fishing a lake like Magician (as well as the other Sister Lakes), you must catch and release for several years to allow the lake's fish to replenish it's fish population.

Any body who has negative comments about this lake must be confused, my aunt and uncle live on the lake on maple island and i have stayed with them and fished for 6 years, many parts of the lake all full of readily active fish. But, to get to the details, on the small cove next to the culvert on maple island, there are vast schools of crappie, bass and bluegill, best fishing for crappie is between the last 2 docks on the island. Crappie will be staging from late april thru may and spawning until late may, early june, i have caught 234 crappie all over 9-12 inches using fathead minnows on a slip bobber rig. You want your bait on the weedbed that lies in 14 feet of water that coms up to 8 feet. Get ready for an occasional pike since after the crappie turn off you will start catching pike and bass. On the other side of the island. Between maple and hemlock, excellent in season bass fishing can be obtained by fan casting texas rigged worms and smaller creatures, as well as hula grubs aka yamamotos and chompers, for trolling, use crawler harnesses with very lively nightcrawlers, i and my uncle have caught walleye in the 3-7 pound range, as well as pike. Well hope for you to catch fish as well as the 2 smaller channels produce good crappie and bass fishing, Mostly the left channel on the far south eastern side of the lake. Hope for you to have some good confidence, cause if you fish it thoroughly you will catch fish

Hook's Live Bait-Tackle is just down the road from Magician Lake and they offer a big variety of tackle and a nice selection of live baits. They are open 7 days a week from 8am until 5pm. Stop in and look around...we've been supplying the bait for all those big crappie they've been catching there!!!

Hey guys if you read a little closer you will see that I said the gentleman we helped had the crappies, I strictly fish bass and practice catch and release ALWAYS. I was simply reporting on my fishing trip to Magician Lake, sorry you misunderstood the posting.

Hey NotToCheap you should post under WayToGay because if you read addman227's post he said clearly that the guy he helped load his boat had the crappie and if you look at the date of his trip it is catch and immediete release of bass which he was writing about anyways douchebag. Get a life and if anyone wants real fresh fish why dont you post your moms address instead of a supermarket ahole!

I agree with Angry. You guys totally took addman227s post out of context. Maybe if you guys lobbied to keep the speedboats and 30 year old jet skis that spit out black smoke Magician would have more fish. If you did a little research you would know that in order to maintain a viable fish population harvest is neccessary. If everyone practiced catch and release all the time all the fish would be the same size. Maybe you should stop attacking people who are promoting your lake with positive comments and start attacking the irresponsible pleasure boaters that are destroying your lakes fragile ecosystem with their poorly maintained boats and jet skis.
