The lake is extremely clear and has very little structure, so it can be difficult to fish for first timers. It has a healthy population of large and smallmouth, rock bass, pumpkinseeds and bluegills. There are a scattering of northern pike, suckers, perch and I once caught a bullhead, but that was years ago. In years past, the DNR regularly planted lake trout, rainbow trout, and splake, but I haven't seen evidence of that in years. Development has taken it's toll on the lake and much of the cover, which was in the form of logs and reeds near the shoreline, has been cleared for docks and swimming areas. As far as lake forage, there are crawfish, minnows, and cisco (I have never caught one, but found them dead after ice out). There are also some hatches in the late spring and early summer. This is one of my alltime favorite lakes, but I have been fishing it for over 30 years, so I have spent the time figuring the lake out and where the fish are at certain times of the year. My suggestion for first timers would be to fish just off the boat landing. To the right will be a log pile that borders the drop off that is usually loaded with panfish. Good Luck
