we've been fishing Amen Lake for several years in Summer. Mostly SM Bass and Blue Gill. Fallen trees and lilly beds around the perimeter with grass beds and other water plants out in the middle. Though not a particularly shallow lake, the grass beds DO come to within 8' of the surface with the grasses sticking out above the surface and a lot of fish like to hide there, particularly the blue gill. We use lures for both: Day-glo spinners for the blue gill, black worms for the bass. We stick to the fallen trees and lilly beds for bass, but we approach by boat instead of casting from shore. I believe there is a public boat ramp somewhere on the south end of the lake but almost all the property owners on the east side all have docks. Fish seem to bite better in the late spring and early Summer before the water surface gets too warm and they all head for deeper water. As you proceed up SR-38, towards Amen Lake, there are several places you can stop to pick up a fishing license.

Very good fishing if you can get access to the lake. Mostly Pike and Bass but you will get an occasionaly Crappie and I've even seen a perch or two. Lots of midsize Pike but was able to pull in a 34in 8lb pike and a 36in 12lb pike as well. Also caught a few bass in the 2-4lb range with the biggest around 19 or 20in. Fished mostly early morning and evening. Caught the biggest of the two northern using 8in suckers and drifting, otherwise relyed mostly on rattle traps, 10ft diving rapalas (perch colored), and spinner baits along the shore. Lots of good flats and weed beds to be fished.
