Fall Lake Fishing in Lake County, Minnesota

In it's past Fall lake was a logging lake. It is full of dead heads and logs can emerge off the bottom only to sink back down days or weeks later. There are no bouy's to mark those so be extra careful navigating this lake. Night fishing in a power boat would be foolish. All and all this is a difficult and frustrating lake to fish in any conventional manner. If you put anything with a hook into the water here your gonna lose it on a log or rock. Between tying on a new jig or rig you can find the occasional walleye. On a week long trip we caught 7 walleyes. One for each day, not great. If you want to try it bring lots of jigs, rigs or your lures of choice, have extra spools of line cause your gonna lose lots of that too, and thank god it wasn't a problem for us but bring a spare motor prop just in case.

first time in a canoe at age 10 in 1955, got stuck after portaging to another lake in a huge storm for hours. great adventure.
