This lake is located onboard Naval Air Station Meridian. I fished this lake dozens of times between February 1988 and October 1991 with all seasons being equally outstanding. I have never been skunked at this lake and have caught at least one bass each time I fished for them. This lake was stocked with 1000 fingerling Florida strain bass in 1989 and was closed to fishing for 12 months. When I transferred from there the stocked bass were averaging over 3 lbs. The largest bass I caught here was over 8 lbs. The largest bass caught in this lake while I was stationed at NAS Meridian was over 10 lbs. One of the most memorable fishing trips here was on a cold December day while fishing jig-N-pig when I could not land a single fish due to my line freezing to my rod. I switch to a rattletrap and began ripping it as fast as I could and I found a school of bass holding over a slight hump off a point on the lake where I caught 7 bass between 2 to 4 pounds on 7 consecutive casts. I was holding my rod tip under the water while retreiving and the last bass hit just one foot from rod tip and when I set the hook, he flew into the boat. I have caught a lot of big bream, bullhead catfish and crappie, too. This is the only lake I have ever fished anywhere in the United States that I could limit out on crappie 365 days a year. Keep in mind that no live bait is allowed while fishing any lake on NAS Meridian, with the exception of worms and crickets.
