This is a beautiful lake, very convenient to persons travelling U. S. Route 60. The location is very scenic, with views of the lake and the valley from the lake dam. Picnic and camping and public restrooms are available,

i fish this small lake alot and do catch bass.I hear alot of people saying they never catch anything at sims, but there in there. use a fishing times chart and go when its best. its a small lake so the fish get alot of fishing pressure. use a light line but not to light there are alot of stumps and brush piles to get hung up on, along with other peoples fishing line... I use 10 lb test fluorocarbon line. plastic worms in junebug are green pumpken color work good with a bullet weight texas rigged. hope everone practices catch and release so there will be fish for others and yourself to catch another day. Good luck fishing.

This is a really good lake, it's just that you have to learn to enjoy more than just the fish.Go ahead and take a good book, a sketching pad, and a pick-nick. There are geese, ducks, and even a stream to explore. the fishing is good. just try different baits, like live bait. during my fishing years i have noticed that fish like different things each season. When I tried little spring peeper frogs in April, they became popular, but not so much in June.
