On a backpacking trip in 2006, we camped one night by Mokawanis Lake. We fished the lake and caught numerous brook trout. We caught them on spinners but about anything would draw strikes. Most fish were in the 8-12 inch range and they fed actively in the evening and morning. The lake is almost overpopulated with brookies and are fairly easy to catch. The lake is at least two days hike from any road and requires an extended backpacking trip to get to. There are only two campsites at the lake and you have to get a permit to stay there. If you go, don't miss a hike up the creek to at least see Margaret Lake. It is the most spectacular view in the world! Didn't fish there, just gawked.
