Bass are very picky of lures because of the abundance of sunfish so they are very used to live bait, if using live bait nightcrawlers tied to a weighted bobber casted far so the bass or pikeral would see it and not the sunnys. Shiners or minnows work fine for bass too. If using lures, i had major success with a top water swimming minnow plug and zoom baby brush hog (i have success with the brush hog in any lake)
