There are no fish in this lake, it is extremely acidic. I did a ph test a few years ago and the water was about as acidic as orange juice. No fish can surivive in lake Matawan.

i grewup in matawan and often swam in that lake as a child, though it would burn your eyes! Never saw a fish in that lake though, never even heard of a fish in that lake. Interestingly the other side of the dam is part of the creek that the famous shark attacks occurred, I caught crabs on the aberdeen rd. bridge when I was a kid, we of course were not allowed to swim there, but a friend and I once put a boat in there and floated down to the bay.
