We were shocked fishing in nuclear lake at the shear size and magnitude of the fish. They were nothing like we had seen before. We had several basscrocodile mix fish that weighed in at 17-30 lbs. i do not understand why this is not catching the eye of the authorities. I reported this to the nuclear regulatory commitee with no response. Beware fishing there, fish from shore, I personaly saw several fish over 8 ft. in length feeding on large canadian geese.

Nuclear lake has been a great spot to fish. They're many kinds of fish like Bass and Blue gill. I would fish Nuclear everyday if the walk from the parking area to the lake was'nt soooooooo far!

Large mouth bass in the 1 to 4 pound range. Some pickerel, and lots of large (4ft range) snakes that dont bother you - they just sun themselves. Have heard that larger bass have been caught up to 6lbs.

elevation at lake may well be 138 meters... but it is definitely more than 138 ft.! There are large fish in there... but i doubt any of the 17-30 lb. variety!!!

do not swim here. I has lost a lure in a submerged tree brance and was severely bitten by the strange fish there when reaching in to retrieve the line. Do not submerge human flesh in any way!!! The fish here do not resemble normal fish. beware, i would not eat them.

Wow to the previos two peoples comments. I live localy and frequent the lake regularly.I have gone swimming and fished it many, many times. The bass are of average size, one to four lbs.The pickerel basscrocodile are also small to average.I bring my small breed of dogs there and am glad they werent eaten. My only question to the previos comments is, why didnt you just say the fish glow in the dark?If your trying to keep people away from a beautiful lake, that was ridiculos

This is a great lake with a large variety of species and lots of accessible shoreline along its entire length. Most of the fish taken in ranged from small to average, but Nuclear Lake still provides great opportunity to catch a lot of fish and it being so large means there's plenty of big ones yet to be caught. Don't be intimidated by the long walk from roadway if its your first time going - this is one of the better public-access lakes to fish in Dutchess County.
