Kanawauke is one of the best lakes that I have ever fished in my life. I don't live in Rockland anymore but still dream of those times that I had there. The bass are huge, and all other fish are plentiful too. You can catch perch, panfish, carp, and even hybrid bass. The damn is an excellent place to start. Also, and very obviously, the boat docks are superb. I've had great luck with plastic worms here. On the bad side, it is not easy to access, and parking is non-existent. To get on the lake, you've got to take quite a walk. Esepecially to get to the dam side.
