small mouth Bass were active in early morning as well as Large Mouth. Catch was 7 small, average 2.5 pounds while large catch was 12, average 4.5 with largest 6.5...!!!!!! Loved it...

Alot of people call this lake the dead sea. Well they just don't know how to fish. I have caught no lie 100 white bass in one fishing trip.(This is with 2 people in the boat so around 50 each) And for anyone who does not believe me i will bet you $100 i can do it again. I will gladly guide someone if you wanted. This lake is great hard to fish if you dont know what you are doing but you can catch alot of fish. But this is my lake and this is the only lake i fish. Some pointers get super clear line. This is the second clearest lake in North Carolina when there is no boat traffic you can see 20feet down no problem. I have always do good on a blue colored crank bait. Stay as far away from the place you trying to throw as possible. Also this lake does not warm up as quick as other since its feed out of the mountains. Every thing spawns about a month late. When large mouth are spawning in march on other lake they spawn late April on lake james. One last tip. Stop by blue ridge sports on you way to the lake. They also know exactly what the fish are biting. If i hit a dead spot i see what they tell me and boom you got a goo fishing day. If you come to this lake please do not litter this lake is the second cleanest for a reason.
