I grew up in this region and the stillwater river is excellent in the late spring and early fall for fishing. The Englewood dam has provide a interesting fihing enviroment. Many different varieties of fish can be caught here. Bass, catfish, sunfish, walleye. perch, and north pike can be caught in this region of the stillwater river. The lake is not a great place to fish, and it does depend on the time of year when the river level increases that it has water. North of Dam is great, 5 to 20 miles up river, their is excellent fishing. You never know what you are going to catch. South of dam, right at national route 40 and 48 the damn great to fish for all different types, hybrid striped bass can be caught here, as well of other regional fish. Fishing can be great here at this spot all year around, even in the winter. The size of the fish can vary. There have been reports both north and south of the dam of 40 to 50 pound catfish being caught. This is suprizing, because the river at normal level is not vary wide. So try your luck in this region of the stillwater river. In summary, from the mouth of river, just 2 miles away for downtown Dayton Ohio, to 25 miles north, check out the fishing. Do some reach and exploring. Check out the FiveRivers Metro parks under Englewood dam. Look at maps of road that cross over the river. Try different spots, and I promise you will love fishing this region. You never know what you will catch or see. But, please be respectful to this enviroment, clean and pick up what you use, and leave it as clean (or better) then when you saw it. Oh you have to have a lisence to fish on the river, and there is construction being done right at the north part of the dam on the river, It is ok to fish, but maybe try fishing 1 mile or two miles up from the dam. Good luck
