Fishhawk Lake is a private lake about 3 miles from the town of Birkenfeld. It is not stocked but has a healthy population of native cutthroat trout. The fishing season is from the end of May through Oct. May-Aug is artificial lure only. Bait is allowed Sept-Oct. Worms seem to work – other types of bait don’t work well. Fishhawk Lake has a fall Coho and a spring Steelhead run. The signs to the lake say it is private. However, the Oregon Fishing Regs mention it by name so it’s unclear if it is open to public fishing.
