I like the papermouth fishing personally which starts after the ice melts off. This time of yr as of now offers some of the best crappie fishing around. they do usually only feed in the early am hrs and the evening also which is not as good as in the am.Take a kid fishing ,all you need is a bucket of minnows and some number 8 hooks and your ready for some fun.some of these fish can grow to be quite large.I thought at one time lake wilhelm,pa. was the best crappie fishing but Crooked creek now may just have it beat, but Loyalhanna, pa. is also pretty good also.the fishing at crooked creek at the spillway can be very tough at times especially for snags when they are letting the water out ,the current is very fast and swift. Also all fisheman should beware of the summer months this area around the water ia known for having copperheads so watch your step.Boat fishing is also permitted with unlimited horsepower which I definetly do not understand do to the size of the lake which is quite small.

This is a great place to fish for all ages and styles. You will get more action bass fishing from a boat. The shoreline is very diverse with different types of shorelines. There is a beach but I would never swim in that water. Also the water in this lake can sometimes rise and fall feet within minutes due to the regulation of the outflow. The outflow area (spillway) are where some of the largest fish are caught. They swim against the current until they tire then they swim to the shallows to rest and wait for a meal.
