An Update after more than a dozen trips. First, there is only shore access from the Fayette county side of the river. Second, of the more than a dozen trips there were three times where I caught nothing, all when the water was low with little flow. I have fished here both day and night and find that catfishing seems to have the best overall success rate day or night. I have caught many Channel cats and a few flathead ranging from 14 to 24 inches. Other fish I have caught here are Carp, shad (unknown variety)and bluegill. I often spotlight at night with a maglite and have seen a number of fish skimming the surface including a two foot and a three foot long alligator gar, one huge flathead cat (head was the size of a basketball), sauger, crappie (I believe), the muskie from my previous post and I have seen guys in boats catch both large and smallmouth bass. The pool on the fayette side is quite deep with a large cluster of fallen timber on the downstream side next to the small inlet creek. Lots of snags if you get too close, but if the water is high enough you get some good flow to carry the scent of your bait to draw out some cats. I haven't fished lures too much as it is limited from shore what you can do but plan to get a canoe eventually and work the area. Oh, and this last trip, the darndest thing. I pulled in a ten inch mudpuppy who decided to chow down on my offering of chicken liver. Got a laugh from that one. :-)

I arrived early as it had rained and I thought the runoff might produce some hits. Didn't get a bite all day however. Fished from the Friendship Hill side. I tried bait (worms and chicken livers), black rubber worms and a rapala. Water was clear and I could see several "chasers" following the lures, including a four foot Muskie, but not hits this day.
