i fished fairview lake today and was surprised by where the fish were hanging out. i fished in my jon boat for a few hours without a bite. i tried many different things to try to get a bite but nothing worked. when i got back to my dock i decided to take a couple of casts for fun and on like the second cast i hooked a pretty big smallie. within a half an hour i hooked another decent smallie and two big bluegill. i was surprised by the fact that i havent caught a trout here for a long time but i have caught many bass around the shore especially near the docks. i would definitely recommend fishing this lake because there are a lot of healthy fish waiting to get caught.

i was with a group of twenty men who spent opening weekend at martins lakefront cottages trolling for trout. weather was not nice, twenty to twenty five mph winds, thirty to forty degrees temps, off and on rain, sleet and snow showers. not your ideal weather for fishing. i ended catching the biggest fish of the weekend, a one pound, one ounce rainbow trout. my boat mate and i ended up with five trout for the entire weekend with a combined total weight of sixty nine ounces. also caught two nice size pickerel and one smallmouth bass that was at least fifteen to sixteen inches and several pounds. all fish were caught with rapelas. martins lakefront cottages are awesome and include a fourteen foot boat with motor with all rentals. the lake is beautiful and i can't wait to take the family back in the summer. overall, this trip did not score alot of fish, but the weather surely had a major part of that.
