This is the most fished pond in south county by the locals it is not uncommon to catch 20lb fish and up on a daily basis with the right guide when i was you punkster i would come down to the lake in dead winter and watch my grandaddy and his friends play winter ice pokey to play ice pokey they would use slim harpoons made from danderbush shoots that they sharpened on a rock they would cut a hole in the ice throw some frozen peas left over from the harvest in the water and wait they took turns holding the danderbush harpoon and when a fish finally came up to take a pea whoever was holding the harpoon got to stick the fish in the icehole you had to be quick to stick a fish thru the icehole while he was taken a pea but the reward were plenty we had some memorible fish fies on that ice and although you cant stick a fish thru the icehole anymore you can still cut a hole kick back with some home hootch and a big fatty throw some frozen peas in the hole and enjoy an evening of ewatching one fish after another come up to take a pea!

recently had a spectacular ice fishing trip here highlight of the trip was 42 and 3 quarters landlock salmon who grabbed a live baby smallmouth coozie that i had drifting at about the 10 foot range with some stickle bar sap coated on it the stickle bar shrubs dot the shoreline of the lake and it is here that many large fish hang out in the summer waiting for some unfortunate creature that had been dining on the bust to pass out and tumble into the lake anyways Great Spot one drawback there are no facilities so be prepared to open one hole at least 20 feet from your fishing holes to use as a camp toilt.
