My Husband hooked into a 60 to 70 Lb Carp while running a Rebel Minnow Lure. Funny Thing was that the Lure hooked the Carp on the Tail Fin which helped to tire it out quicker than normal. We were hoping for a Monster Bass but instead was shocked by a True Sea Monster. We also caught Two 3 Lb Large Mouth Bass and 9 Bream, watched 2 Pairs of Bald Eagles soar and play, Collected Lily Seed Pods, and ate lunch to the Sound of a Waterfall at the Spillway. Excellent Saturday Fun for All Involved.

Can someone tell me where a person can actually fish from the bank on Goose Creek Resv. other than at the Bettis launch?

The bream and bass fishing at the GCR is great. I have never tried to catch catfish there, but I've heard some stories about folks catching channel cats there. There are a lot of alligators in the GCR. Do not let your dogs swim in the water, no matter how tempting it is. I personally witnessed a 12-foot gator take a big black lab that was playing in the water near the boat ramp. It's scary for me because I remember seeing some kids swim and play around the same spot, so parents keep your kids out of the water! Despite the gators, the bream and bass fishing is good. Very convenient to Hanahan, North Charleston, and Goose Creek.
