As a matter of fact, I am leaving to Otter Creek from CA today for a week long fishing trip!I have been fishing this lake at least once a year for the past 15 years and every year seems to be different. Some years the shoreline is filled with "ready to spawn" rainbow trout that attack your line like they have not eaten in years. Some years you discover a boat is a must if you want to leave with any trout at all. Some years you discover that the trout are only hitting green power bait, other years its the white. Needless to say, like all fisherman, you have got to be prepared to use different strategies every time you fish Otter Creek Reservoir. This is why we travel from CA to UT every year to this lake. Its is a good healthy challenge that can be beat! Here are some fishing tips that have always worked for me at Otter Creek: 1. When the fish are close tot he shoreline, the fly fisherman always does the best. 2. Green power bait seems to hit often throughout the year. 3. If you can catch a crayfish (craw daddy), use that sucker as bait, they love em! 4. If it's smaller than 14", throw it back, you will catch something bigger! 5. Remember it's called "fishing"...if it were called "catching" everyone would do it!
