For Googlers: The directions that can be found anywhere for this pond are not very clear. And searching google was little to no help. We even tried calling the Town Hall clerk, everyone we talked to knew to head to the end of Wallingford Pond Rd. Then having to walk anywhere from 200 feet to a half mile. Believe me, at the end of Wallingford Pond Rd you’re in the middle of nowhere. The supposed Wallingford Pond Access sign is long gone and you kind of just get to a junction of 3 possible trails to take. First of all, the first parking lot is nothing more than a turn out about .2 from the end of Wallingford Pond Rd. It is the one mentioned in the AMC guide. After the parking lot there is a very distinct bend in the road where all 3 trails start out from. The trial you want is the left most one. Again, there is no sign, but there is a post were presumably a sign once hung. A half mile from the start of the Jeep trail, as it’s known, there is a fork. Take the path to the left. Continue another half mile or so until you reach another junction. One path goes straight ahead and another path cuts to the left. I believe to your right is the second parking lot but now it’s completely over grown and completely unrecognizable as a parking lot, if you'd ever want to drive your car up this road in the first place. Anyway, take the path to your left. Continue for another 200-300 feet and you should run into the pond. It's a good mile walk from Wallingford Pond road. Unless you have a jeep or some other vehicle you don't care about getting really muddy or banging up the bottom of I wouldn't recommend driving up to the pond.
