Great place to fish but trash left by illegal aliens all over the place, see them down there drinking every time I go there and leaving bottles all over the place, not to mention fishing without a license. Game warden and immigration need to crack down on them and not the legal US residents fishing and NOT trashing the lake. Send them back to their country where they can trash their lakes and not ours.

Been here a few times...evenings seem to be best, lots of Crappie, some Bass... this is a new spot but worth checking out if you have a small craft you can drop in and be on your way with little effort or competition, few people seem to know that this place even exits...did i mention, it's a huge lake??!!

Have fished there quite a bit over the last year with very little luck but plan on trying again this year. I want to thank the gentleman from Mt. Hope Church for setting the record straight on the access road. Really enjoy being on this lake even when I don't catch anything. It is a beautiful lake.

Good amount of minnows and bass, but place can get very crowded, there is very limited parking, and there are a lot of broken beer bottles and trash all over the place. Also, conservation police have a patrol in this lake, and you WILL get cited without a license, even if you have never fished in your life before and are getting simple pointers and practice casting from a friend who does have a license. This ruined the experience at this place, and I do not plan on returning, even when I do get my license.

This used to be a good place to fish but after the drought in 2007 lowered the water level and allowed anglers to pick off most of the fish it really hasn't returned to what it used to be and has gotten steadily worse year by year. Bass are tiny and scattered, same for most of the panfish. It's not worth the effort to go here and expect to catch anything large or in numbers. Too many people were catching and keeping everything during the 2007 drought and that killed Beaverdam fishing.

I like this lake very much, very quiet unlike most nova locations. I hope the parks leaves the place alone. Please pick up your trash and maybe even someone else's from time to time.

Access to Beaverdam reservoir from Belmont Ridge Road, Mount Hope Road could become closed in the near future. Mount Hope Church is seeking to close the road so they can expand their site on both sides of the road. A public hearing with the planning commission is scheduled on June 18th. If you use this access point and do not want the road closed, best to send your comments to the Loudoun County Planning Commission (Sandra Chaloux) as soon as possible

Lots of bass, bluegill, crappie, and cats to be had. This sucker gets deep in the middle, in excess of 65 feet. No gas powered boats allowed, but electric trolling motors on boats small enough to carry are ok. The North shore has better access from Reservoir Rd.

I live very close to the reservoir and love that fact. I have to second the fact that there is very limited parking and there are some people who come down there and forget to clean up after themselves. This is the most annoying part for me. There is supposed to be future plans to expand by nova park authority, so hopefully they will be able to clean it up and provide resources.

As both an avid fisherman and a member of Mount Hope Baptist Church, I wish the previous (annonymous of course)poster would have gotten his facts straight before his call to arms. Mt. Hope Church has neither suggested nor requested that the road be closed. We are trying to expand our fellowship hall, which would be attached to the current building, not a separate structure on the opposite side of Mt. Hope Road. At one time, the County had said they wanted to abandoned the road over to Mt. Hope, but there was never any talk about closing it. It's just like the overflow parking lot that lies between our paved parking lot and the Reservoir parking lot. We could post it if we wanted to, but we have always left it open to anybody who wants to use it for reservoir access. There are some who will oppose any permit request by any church, for reasons having nothing to do with building or environmental issues. I don't know what motivated the previous poster to write something so far from the truth, and I can't ask him because he did not sign his name.
