My family actually has a home on this lake and was one of the first families to build on Blue Lake. This lake can produce some incredible fishing. Unfortunately the Fish and Wildlife Department seem to like to "Play God" if you will and kill off this lake every couple of years so they can claim it as a "pure trout lake". It makes for unbalanced fishing. 1. The trout are small 2. After the opening weekend the rest of the years fishing is awful. 3. it contaminates the drinking water of all the wells of the home owners, parks, and public facilities. This alters the natural environment of the lakes. One thing I don't get is why the Dept. of Fish & Wild Life can kill off an entire lake yet can give anyone a ticket for catching fish too small, too many, out of season, or no license. Kind of double standard if you ask me. Everyone I know on the lake enjoys catching the large trout, the abundance of perch, crappie, and bass in the warmer months. Stop killing the lake!!!!!

We went camping over the weekend June 14 at Blue lake and did well. In two days of fishing we caught roughly 30 rainbows ranging from 14 to 18 inches. We also caught 2 Browns over the weekend, on of which was 22 inches and had a big pig belly on him. We plunked with power bait in the cove on the north end of lake and did well but the majority of the time we trolled from the above mention cove south to where the lake side homes start popping up. We would stay about 60 feet from the bank at a slow pace (setting 3 on our electric trolling motor). On the west side of the lake we would troll from the public rest rooms down to the resort on the northwest side. We had two setups we were trolling with. One was set up with lead line and about 45 feet of leader and we used it to troll black and green streamer files. On the other I used a half once banana led with about 5 feet of leader trolling a streamer fly or a wedding ring. We caught the big brown trout on a wedding ring in the cove on the north eastern corner of the lake.
