Lake Mcmurray Fishing in Skagit County, Washington

Spent all day in the boat. Early on we had motor problems but got it taken care of by 9:00 A.M. The morning was good but missed most of it. Caught two nice rainbows 14-15 inches. The late morning and afternoon-evening not so great. Had a small handfull of bites and lost one at the edge of the boat. Using power bait eggs and a worm on the end. Other fishermen were doing a little better. One guy fly fishing got 4, three other guys in a boat caught 10 total. Not much for shore fishing, youll need a boat unless you know someone who lives on the lake.

This was our family's favorite place to go for a weekend or the summer. we began going there 1936. Mrs Baker had the only resort at that time. It was a perfect kids fishing lake for you could always catch something. Even crawdaddies. Mrs Baker had the PO in her big homee that still exists I think. The railroad was still in use and the mail was delivered and picked up there. She wanted to teach me to be a post mistress and I wanted to badly. But parents said no we lived too far away (Ballard ??) She would have kept me. even adopted me if possible. I could tell you the best fishing spots and where different areas were to see bear and deer. The cemetary and the little MckMurray store....... Great memories.
