This lake has the very best Kokanee fishing I've ever done. The kokanee and big and fight like crazy it is just the best fishing. Timing is the secret to catching these fish. The Kokanee run in even numbered year, in August. August 2010 will be the next great time to fish for them. The best way to catch them is a fairly fast troll using a Nordic jig. I believe you can get these at the White Elephant in Spokane or on the internet. I'm not sure which wt jig worked the best, can't remember. You will get most of your hits in the narrow channel. The Kokanee will hit the jig hard and then race toward the boat, if they get slack they spring straight up and you lose them. When they are running you can get your limit in a couple hours, when they aren't running well you get nothing. Remember even number years in August and if that isn't enough it's a beautiful lake with very good camping areas. It's just a wonderful park and for you bird watchers they have a pair of nesting Loons.
