Range Line Flowage no longer exists. It has been drained for years. I grew up fishing it as a kid with my Dad. It was an excellent pan-fishery. Decent sized fish for such a small body of water. Occasionally we'd get a 9' Bluegill or 12' Crappie, some nice Perch. It broke our hearts when they drained it. This place was such a big part of my childhood, my formative years, images and memories burned upon my mind. It seemed so senseless to drain it. I think I heard the spillway was getting bad. Would it be that hard to replace it? With all the money we waste in this country? Places like this are priceless. We should cherish and treasure them, not write them off. They did rehab another flowage, Teal, back towards town, but in typically modern fashion, they ripped out the brush, opened everything up, widened the dike, added a dock and fishing pier to make everything 'accessible'. The old narrow path through the tall grass down the dike is now a fifty foot wide run-way that they keep well mowed. Maybe I'm glad they let Range Line go. I'm not against access for the handicap, but is there something wrong with quiet, pristine, hidden places. I'm thankful for the memories that I'll never forget, it just makes me sad that I'm not able to share this beautiful place with my children.
