8.22.2008 - 8.24.2008 4 - 5 Northern Pike (ranging from 24 inches - 30 inches) 3 - 4 Largemouth bass (Unknown Size) Countless Bluegill, 1 perch, and 1 crappie. The kids had fun with them! There was one very large muskie swirl that followed behind one of our bucktails just after sunset on 8.23.08. All of the pike were caught using smaller bucktails and some jawbreaker lures cast into the weeds. Bass were caught using a texas rig with a bullet sinker. All of the panfish were caught off shore using worms and bobbers.

Our family once owned three fourty acre parcels that covered most of the footprint of BJL. Our ownership extended from 1959 - about 1987. My mom sold the property after my father passed away and a series of storms blew down many of the large trees. Fishing on the lake is cyclic, depending on the weather and amount of pan fish removed from the lake during prior seasons. There were no muskies taken from the lake during the more than 20 years we owned the property. The largest northern we took was 42". The largest smallmouth around 7 pounds.
