Beach Casting
1. Find your fishing location. There are fantastic fishing locations for beach casting on a saltwater body throughout the world. In the United States, almost any coastal area has a nearby location that will be a good spot.
2. Decide what species of fish you want to catch. Different types of fish will strike with different types of bait. To raise your chances of catching your share of fish, know what kind of bait to use.
3. Practice a "Power Cast". This will allow you to cast your line far into the water. The fish you want to catch are generally not 30 feet from the shore so getting the bait out there is important.
4. Consider hiring a guide. These guides will have extensive knowledge of the area you want to fish. If you are not having any luck, they will help you get started and increase your chance of a successful fishing expedition.
5. Make sure you have the proper equipment. Just having a rod and reel will not usually bring you luck. Have a complete set of different types of bait and lures handy. Also, have a wide assortment of other fishing accessories like nets, stringers and pliers.
6. Get a fishing license. You will need to have this to fish most public locations. You can purchase these at any sports and outdoor retail stores or local bait and tackle shops.
Fly fishing

4. Practice your fly fishing technique. These can be somewhat difficult to perfect, but a proper cast can really increase your chances of success.
5. Hire a guide. This would be particularly useful on your first outing. These guides will know exactly where to take you to ensure a successful fishing trip.
6. Be ready when you hook that big one! Saltwater fishing in the ocean can be scary if a large fish takes the bait. There are species that weigh more than the average person!
Tips: If you have not previously done any saltwater fishing, do your research. You always want to be well informed when tackling a new challenge.
